tests

she’s from estonia and he’s italian from switzerland. in a simple ceremony they said yes to each other. we all heard. above them, Jesus on the cross and light streamed in from the stained glass windows of the house with the high ceiling, drawing the eyes up and up, heaven ward. because it was sealed there. rings, they kissed and signed the document. it was done. a covenant. a simple ceremony with enough splendour to create the memory of a life time. a prayer of blessing as we stand on the stone floor of the house, a solid foundation. Jesus on the cross above them.

after 28 years, i know…
a simple yes.
it will be tested.
the promise will be battered.
he will change, she will change.

after 28 years, we too have the pictures, the memories…
a simple yes.
it was tested and will be.
the promise is battered.
he changed, i changed.
but i love and respect the man that shares my life today.
