when did you know

“Would you call yourself a writer? When did you know?” she asked.

I never thought of becoming a writer.
I wrote essays at school.
I made cards to say ‘thank you’ for gifts.
I wrote letters to family and friends to keep in touch.

A friend asked several times to tell about our life in another man’s land on a forum. Eventually I did. Loved it. It ignited the desire to write more.

With encouragement from friends to do something about the writing, I realised I have something to say. I do not live in the country where I was born. We are a ‘handicapped’ family because one member walks to the beat of a different drummer. Life is not working out as we thought…

The desire to write grew stronger.

Then one morning I heard the Voice say: “Write for Me!”
I have no idea what it means – articles, stories, journaling, maybe a book?
I’m just venturing out, knowing I’m compelled to write…trusting it will be a gift to those reading it.
