A hard stop
Washing, ironing, meal prep, dishes, walking the dog, grocery shopping, cleaning the house… and then the hard stops.
The Belgian school children decided to make a very hard stop, every Thursday since January 10th – thousands of them, and it is continuing. They are breaking rules to get the attention of politicians and everyone else to push the importance of climate change and the wellbeing of our planet to the forefront.
Kirsty’s dentist is a hardliner with no striking in mind, only patience and lots of it while she enjoys the attention.
My friend and I made a hard stop to enjoy the sun, go for a long walk and make art.
In the middle of our winter when everything should either be covered in snow or frost, we had record braking SUNNY days (20°C). We paused in the sun with sunglasses and cool drinks.
When young people take time out to focus for a season on their spiritual health and development, revelation comes, and steps are taken towards new ways of thinking and doing. Wim loves these times, sharing of his journey and experiences with these groups. He went to Saint Hippolyte du Fort, France and Torremolinos, Spain.
A gifted, brilliant young lady from our local church, decided to stop and make a public declaration of her strong conviction and intention. I accompanied her in the journey to baptism.
When a homeless friend unexpectedly passed on, we stopped and with some of his friends, had a small memorial service. Death brings us all on the same level – it is hard to lose a friend.
No strike or hard stop for a mother, except for a cup of tea.
