training the dog
coming from the southern hemisphere, the teacher-man and i love a good game of rugby, especially when our team, the boks plays. during the three or six nations’ series, we pick fights with our friends from the other nations by cheering the opposing sides – nothing serious that a saintly, monastery brewed beer can’t fix! (we do live in the country where more than two hundred types of beer are brewed.)
i find the ‘scrum-fellowship’ somewhat irritating at times. but hey, there is method in this madness, must be. however, i was thrilled at the teacher-man’s creativity in using the ‘scrum’ principle in training our bella. bella is an intelligent boomer poodle we bought for our daughter. bella caught on fast. (wonder why some of these strong men struggle so much to get it?)
here it is:
crouch (sit)
touch (paw)
pause (wait)
engage (eat)
it works every time.
(no offence, have a beer!)
